Senior Accountant

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Accountant

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

 

 

Objective:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all aspects of accounting and related processes and reporting on ASC 606 revenue recognition guidelines. As a key member of the finance team, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and controls in related processes and reports. In addition, the individual will be responsible for reconciling projects, processing journal entries, and managing the payables and receivables transactions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and follow up on month-end reports including WIP, ASC 606 templates and revenue analysis and reporting
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end closing
  • Work with both internal and external auditor as may be required
  • Review and mentor staff accountant in day-to-day activities ¬≠including but not limited to reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Train and support agency staff as needed on financials
  • Monitors time entry cut-off and utilization
  • Processing payables, expenses and cheques for agency following policies and guidelines
  • Ensure proper approval and documentation related to travel bookings and expenses
  • Perform banking requirements, and expense recovery tracking and recording
  • Maintain, process and reconcile corporate card and related transactions
  • Handles all suppliers and related inquiries
  • Ad-hoc projects and reporting
  • Adheres to internal control guidelines and period close deadlines

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • University degree preferably in Business/Finance, related field
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in relevant communications industries or agencies
  • CPA or CPA candidate or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with the nature of agency business
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Positive attitude and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to multi-task, highly organized and efficient
  • Strong analytical skills
