Veritas Named Canadian PR Agency of the Year at Holmes Report SABRE Awards in NYC

It was a big night in the big apple for Toronto’s Veritas Communications, named 2017 Canadian PR Agency of the Year at the prestigious Holmes Report SABRE Awards last night in New York City. Veritas also won a Gold SABRE award for its work with General Mills Canada on the tremendously successful “Bring Back The Bees” campaign.

“We couldn’t be more proud to be named Canadian PR Agency of the Year for a second time in three years,” said Veritas President & CEO Krista Webster (Veritas previously won the honour in 2014). “It’s a testament to the tremendous creativity and plain old scrappiness of our team, going up against some of the biggest global PR agencies and coming out on top.”

Webster says it’s an honour to be recognized in the same category as finalist nominees Citizen Relations, Environics, National PR and Weber Shandwick. “They do outstanding work, and the calibre of their competition makes us work that much harder every day.”

Veritas and client partner General Mills Canada won the Gold SABRE Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility category for the “Bring Back The Bees” campaign, now in its second year and newly expanded into the U.S. market. It has exceeded all targets in encouraging Canadians and now Americans to play a part in helping stabilize and sustain bee populations by planting wildflowers using seeds provided free of charge by General Mills.

“It’s always great to be part of a successful commercial campaign, but this one is especially dear to us as it’s ultimately about making the world a better place for all of us and our children,” Webster said, noting that one third of our food supply depends on the pollination efforts of bees across North America.

The Holmes Report selects its Agencies of the Year based on an exhaustive research process involving more than 150 submissions and 50 face-to-face meetings with the best PR firms across the US and Canada.
